Bookkeeping for the equine professional

I've been keeping books almost as long as I have been riding horses.  I began riding and showing as a child.  After graduating from Centenary University with a Bachelors in Equine Studies, including advanced studies at the Yorkshire Riding Centre in England, I returned home to follow my entrepreneurial spirit. Initially working at an Eventing barn in Lewes DE, I taught lessons, trained horses and, yes, mucked many stalls.  In 2003 life steered me in a new direction and I and entered the retail trade through the family business. Just a mile from the Atlantic Ocean, I opened my own specialty store focusing on outdoor furniture for beach homes.    It was this business that initially taught me bookkeeping.

As every savvy entrepreneur learns, keeping accurate books is essential to success. Mastering my own accounts then led to tending the financial records of my parent's business, a retail gift store.  Since then I have worked with a variety of clients from small-scale nonprofits to pool servicing companies.  

I currently live in Duvall WA with my husband, two young boys and two horses.
